i think the term 'soulmate' is crass and in bad
taste. i think that 'soulmate' is only attributed
in two cases:
1) in hope
2) in hindsight
either case is obviously just wishful thinking.
i understand that this may seem cynical...perhaps.
but i don't think its cynical to face any situation
for what it is.
no doubt that those companions whom seem to stick
around much longer than others (despite what
may happen) is deserved of higher recognition...
but i do not feel that 'soulmate' is a decent
term. naturally i have no care about the 'soul'
part of 'soulmate'... its merely a romantic
cliche term that adheres to the 'meaning'.
but i do think that when there is a greater
need to term a friendship that is beyond all
other friendships as something 'more' than that,
it naturally discounts 'friendship'.
i suppose what i'm saying, in a shorter version,
is that what the average person terms as a
'soulmate'... i term as a 'friend'.
all else is just circumstantial.
i hope this makes sense... if not, oh well.

Bout damn time ya replied. Sheeezzz thought you fell off the philosophy wagon or something. Anyhow.. very good insit as to how you see the term and its mean. So you say that in short for those who term "soulmate" you would term as "friend". So do tell, then on the given of what you have said... would you say compaired to the average joe or joette.. would you have a lot of "friends" or just a few? And if you have a lot of "friends" does that mean to reason that from an outsiders perspective you would be the type of person to "hang around" or be a soul mate" or "friend (in your words) for other people?
The reason I ask is on a number scale I would say the average person has lot of friends but only a limited number of soulmates. Yet in the way you term... friend... you make it seem as if you either could see anyone with the potential until proven differently or maybe you just have few "friends" and the rest are just "acquaintances" ???

ok. i see what you are asking.
unfortunately, i'll be totally honest.
i have very few friends... if at all.
nor do i consider myself to be 'friend'/'soulmate'...
but this is explained further--
i am naturally suspicious about people.
to be more detailed, i'm naturally suspicious about
people and their motives.
how does this apply to the current conversation?
well, i don't like to refer to people in terms
of a linear 'name plate'... that is, i don't
like to judge people based on a consistant
upgrading based on particulars of a situation.
so.... although i do use that linear frame upon
occasion, i do not think its fair on a permanent
basis.
therefore, a 'friend'/'soulmate' is merely situational
and never a lump sum total.
hope this makes sense.

Yes errrrrr um ok.. but you said you refer to sole mates as "friends" and the question was... do you have any? And if that answer is yes then how did they become to be friends or "sole mates".

again..i need to read more....
jeez demon
-
Just a side-tangent here, but how do you judge people in that case shatzy?
Or is it simply not judging?
I have trouble seeing how you work with that.
-
and so...?
Where does it lose value by being momentary?
-
posts... too .... long.... must... not ... fall asleep..
HOLY CRAP, longest sig in the world i think..
i mean... crap man!
-
i get what shatzy's saying...
but i don't use the word soul mate either..
i rarely use the word friend... i have very few friends
but lots of aquaintances! don't get me wrong, i'm very popular, in fact my name is a household item where i live, but that don't mean shit.
my boyfriend at the moment, i could never ask for anybody better then him, so in that sense, i believe him to be my best friend, lover, confidente, but soul mate is pushing it.
what was that thing... i can't remember now.. seasonal friends, etc... i don't remebmer... *ranting now..
but yes.. uhm.. soul mate.. it's .. more of a lover thing, for the romantic in you
thbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbt!
